RapidAIM’s software

A complete pest monitoring solution in the palm of your hand

Our mobile app displays pest activity in a clear and intuitive way. Logging spray events in orchards and farms show when pest management actions are working.

  • Receive instant Push Notifications when detections occur
  • Browse historical data and pest population trends over time in orchards and across regions
  • Keep track of pest management or trap maintenance
  • Time of day pest activity allows for targeted management action
  • Grid management with traps status and troubleshooting wizard

Rigorously Tested

RapidFLY is commercially available for the male fruit fly in the Bactrocera genus, and mostly used for Bactrocera tryoni, using cuelure attractants.

It has been rigorously tested in the laboratory and the field over several years in partnership with the CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation), the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment and Horticulture Innovation, and Horticulture Innovation.

We are currently being testing for other applications including female fruit flies, Mediterranean fruit fly and other exotic fruit flies.

RapidFLY vs. Lynfield Traps

You can trust our devices to deliver the same catches

Extensive testing shows fruit fly catches are not different between RapidFLY and Lynfield traps.

From 310 sample events in two regions, the fly catches in the RapidFLY traps were not different from the Lynfield traps in Shepparton, VIC (n=194, = 0.07 + 0.61 (+1 SD), p > 0.112; untransformed =0.056 + 3.529 ) or Orange NSW (n=120, = 0.008 + 0.32, p>0.767; untransformed = 0.03 + 0.819;

You can trust our detection algorithm to not miss a fly

The analysis shows that RapidFLY real-time detection rarely misses a fly, less than 0.01%. This is termed a false negative; a circumstance where the app shows zero detection but a fly is present (11,873 trap days 2/336 flies missed, and 5/336 trap days undercounted). The RapidAIM false alarm rate is also very low, ~ 2% (61/2246 trap days; chance of detecting a fly on days when no flies enter the trap). This is termed false positive; a circumstance where the app shows more flies than are present in the trap, and occurs when fruit fly pressure is high. RapidAIM Pty Ltd advises that instances where false positives may occur are in situations where fly populations are well above levels of concern and focus should remain firmly on management.

Attribute RapidFLY Lynfield
Real-time pest detections
Sends alerts to your phone
Highly accurate pest forecast
Set and forget (long life battery and lure means reduced visits to each trap)
Collects information all year round
Low power and low cost
Agnostic to control products
Able to withstand all weather conditions and durable year after year
Easy to set up and maintain

Save time. Save money. Improve quality and yield

When used as part of an area-wide monitoring and surveillance system RapidFLY can deliver very high cost-savings when compared to traditional surveillance systems that rely on manually checking insect traps

RapidAIM reduces the time spent checking traps by 90% and has saved the Government 35% on pest surveillance costs and 60% on outbreak response costs. This is based on calculations made for costs spent on sampling visits, lure changes and deployments in State Government biosecurity programs. Data gathered during Hort Innovation Project ST16009 2019.
